The Georgian opposition will meet the first flight from Moscow with a protest

A protest action will be held in Georgia on the day of the resumption of air connections with Russia. This was reported by the leader of the opposition movement "Droa" Elene Khoshtariya. She says that the actions of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" are a betrayal of the national interests of the Georgian people.

"The whole civilized world says that the flights of the Azimut airline are prohibited, and the government of Georgia told this airline - you are welcome, fly. This plane will not be able to land comfortably here. We must stand together during the first flight and show where Georgian society is," she said.

Khoshtariya called on like-minded people to gather on May 19 at 12:00 Tbilisi time at the capital square of the First Republic, after which they will head in a convoy to Tbilisi International Airport.

"We have nothing against the passengers, it is not our business who and where to fly, but we will show Russia and the whole world that this plane is not greeted with applause," Khoshtaria said.

According to the information of the Georgian mass media, today, May 16, two protest actions will be held in Tbilisi against air connections with Russia. The "European Georgia" party is gathering in the government administration under the slogan "One-way ticket to Moscow under the Ivanishvili regime." An action was announced near the parliament building - "We will not be able to enter the EU on a Russian ship."

According to preliminary information, air traffic between Russia and Georgia will resume on May 19. The first flight on the Moscow-Tbilisi-Moscow route will be operated by Azimut airline. Georgian Airways will resume flights on the Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi route from May 20.
