The High Representative of the EU for foreign policy and security policy, Josep Borrell, emphasized that the members of the European Union will continue to support Ukraine in the war with Russia, despite speculations about possible "fatigue".
Borrell said this at the end of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Stockholm on Friday, the correspondent of "European Pravda" reports.
The top diplomat of the European Union emphasized that during the 15 months of the war, Russia did not give up its intention to "subjugate" Ukraine and continue to destroy it. Therefore, it is important to provide long-term support tools for Kyiv in addition to the short-term ones that exist today.
"And I want to send a clear signal to Putin: there is and will be no fatigue. We will continue to support Ukraine as much as it needs and as much as it will be needed," Borrell stressed.
He emphasized that in the current situation, Ukraine cannot give up the struggle, because it would endanger its existence as a nation, but Russia, on the other hand, does not want to do this.
"Many people say they want peace. We do. And those who want peace more than anyone else are Ukrainians. Ukrainians want peace. We want peace. But we don't want surrender. We don't want Ukraine became the second Belarus," the top EU diplomat emphasized.
Borrell previously stated that Beijing, although it remains an important partner of Brussels, has already lost the opportunity to mediate in the war unleashed by Russia.
