Beijing announced the visit of China's special representative to Ukraine

Beijing said on Friday that China will send a special representative to Ukraine, Russia and other European countries starting Monday, May 15, to discuss a "political settlement" of the war in Ukraine. The statement was made by the spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, writes AFP.

"From May 15, Ambassador Li Hui, the special representative of the Chinese government for Eurasian affairs, will visit Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Russia to communicate with all parties regarding the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis," said Wang Wenbin, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at another press conference.

On April 26, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі had a long phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the first since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. During the conversation, Zelenskyi and Xi exchanged views on China's "peace plan" and the peace formula. The head of state called the negotiations meaningful.

In China, according to the results, they indicated that they would send a special representative of the government to Ukraine.

As reported, it is about the appointment of 70-year-old Li Hui. He spent 16 years of his career working in either the Soviet Union or Russia, and from 2009 to 2019 was China's ambassador to Moscow.

During this time, Lee, Bloomberg noted, has overseen the upgrading of bilateral ties to a "comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination," a phrase that indicates that relations with another state are at one of the highest levels. Putin awarded him the Order of Friendship, which Russia gives to people who have made a lot of efforts to strengthen ties.
