European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans said in an interview with France Inter that "none of the goals" set by the Russians a year ago "have been achieved" and "Putin has already lost" the war in Ukraine.
"You can lose a war but keep fighting," Timmermans said Wednesday morning in an interview with France Inter, part of Radio France.
"I believe that Putin has already lost the war in Ukraine," he continued, "because none of the goals he set a year ago have been achieved."
According to him, the Russians "failed everywhere, they can't rush anymore, it shows the desperation with these drones; the Ukrainians have the means to push the Russians away, and they will."
At the same time, he noted that "we manage to mobilize funds and will in the industry for the production of these necessary ammunitions in Ukraine."
"There is always a danger that we will get used to war" after a year since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Timmermans believes. "But I see the pan-European political will to continue supporting the efforts of Ukrainians for self-defense, because everyone perfectly understands that this is not just a war in Ukraine, but an attempt to impose oneself on neighbors and impose oneself on us - this is a fight for our freedom."
