An explosive device was planted on the way of the motorcade of the Prosecutor General of Bulgaria Ivan Geshev, in connection with which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country started an investigation.
This is reported by BDNES.
The explosive device was planted on the road near the village of Kovachivtsi, through which Geshev, as part of a motorcade, was supposed to go to the west with the participation of junior prosecutors. A bomb was detonated in the air in front of the motorcade, but no one was injured as a result.
Deputy Prosecutor General of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov said on bTV channel that the explosion created a pillar of fire 4-5 meters high, and a 30-40 cm deep crater with a diameter of almost three meters was formed at the site of the explosion.
It was publicly announced that the Prosecutor General of Bulgaria would go to Turkey, so the law enforcement officers are checking whether there was a leak of information about the change of route of the motorcade.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria, Petro Todorov, stated at a special briefing that law enforcement officers and investigators are working at the scene, and a headquarters with the participation of law enforcement agencies has been established for the investigation.
In addition, on Tuesday, acting Prime Minister of Bulgaria Gl'b Donev will hold a meeting, based on the results of which measures will be taken regarding the incident.
"It is unacceptable that there is a threat to the life and health of every Bulgarian citizen, our actions will be categorical in order to protect the life and health and property of Bulgarian citizens", - emphasized the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria.
So far, the Bulgarian speakers have not reported, in connection with which there could be an attempt on the country's general prosecutor.
