To protect against destruction, Kharkiv needs modernized weapons, said the mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov.
"This is necessary for the city. Kharkiv is constantly under fire. The missiles being fired at are S-300. The distance to the border is very small. We need the latest modernized air defense system in order to protect Kharkiv from destruction," Terekhov said on the air of the telethon .
He also added that in order to restore Kharkiv, which suffered from Russian aggression, as of now, about 9.5 billion dollars are needed - according to preliminary estimates.
"Regarding the restoration of Kharkiv, we roughly calculated... The shelling continues and now it is impossible to definitively calculate all the damages that Kharkiv received from the Russian aggressors. Currently, the amount of funds needed to restore Kharkiv is 9.5 billion dollars," said Terekhov.
The mayor of the city clarified that it is about the restoration of not only residential buildings, but also energy infrastructure, administrative buildings, etc.
"This is a huge amount. Therefore, when we met with the US Deputy Secretary of State and other respected members of the government, we talked about the fact that we cannot find such funds ourselves and we need the support of our partners, the USA," said the mayor.
