The issue of agricultural imports should be resolved in solidarity with Ukraine, - Council of the EU

The European Union understands that the current crisis with the import of Ukrainian agricultural products to some EU countries is a consequence of Russian aggression, so the issue must be resolved in solidarity with Ukraine.

The Minister of Agrarian Affairs of Sweden, Peter Kullgren, stated this in Luxembourg during a press conference following the results of the EU Council of Ministers on Agriculture and Fisheries, reports Ukrinform.

"We had the honor of speaking with our Ukrainian colleague Mykola Solsky, who took part in the video conference at the beginning of the meeting. The participation of the Ukrainian minister helped to focus our thoughts on what really matters. Ukraine is a country at war, suffering from the consequences of Russian aggression, and this should be the starting point of our reflection as we consider the way forward," he said.

According to Kullgren, there are indeed problems in the domestic market in some EU countries, especially in those bordering Ukraine. Because of this, there should be an analysis that will answer the question of the impact of Ukrainian imports on the market situation.

"In this regard, the Council of the EU has another important message. We must respond to difficulties as a European Union. The EU continues to maintain unity in solidarity with Ukraine, and intends to find a solution that will not compromise solidarity with our neighbor," he noted. .

We will remind you that the European Commission has expanded the list of goods subject to a ban on imports to Poland from Ukraine - sunflower oil has been added to it. Transit of these products will be allowed.
