An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 was recorded near the southeastern coast of New Zealand, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reports.
Around 5 a.m., an earthquake struck Kiev on the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand, which the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center initially estimated at 7.3, but later revised to 7.1 on the Richter scale. There were no reports of damage or casualties.
The National Emergency Management Agency also reported that there is no tsunami threat to New Zealand.
The Kermadec Islands, where the earthquake occurred, are mostly uninhabited. With the exception of Fr. Raoul, where scientists periodically stay to observe meteorological phenomena. On these islands, oscillations of the earth's crust are most often a phenomenon, because they are located at the junction of tectonic plates.
We will remind, yesterday there were two earthquakes in Indonesia, the average magnitude of which reached 6 points.
