The Council of the European Union approved the proposal of the European Commission to extend the effect of mobile roaming to the EU to Ukraine.
This was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation on Tuesday.
The EU Council and the European Commission support Ukraine joining free roaming with the European Union on a permanent basis, the ministry emphasized. For this purpose, the European Commission proposed to include provisions on roaming in Appendix 17-3 of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement. The Council of the European Union approved this proposal.
"Roaming with the European Union is getting closer. The Council of the EU has approved Appendix 17-3. Ukrainians will be able not to pay additional charges for communication while traveling in Europe, and European travelers - in Ukraine," the message says.
Next, the decision must be approved by the Ukraine-EU Association Committee in the trade warehouse.
Currently, millions of Ukrainians in the EU communicate with their relatives in Ukraine without overpayment thanks to the agreement of operators in connection with the full-scale invasion of Russia and the departure of a significant number of Ukrainians to European countries.
Recently, this agreement was extended for another six months.
In September 2022, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that Ukraine will join the EU roaming zone.
