The Verkhovna Rada appealed to the member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to implement the decision of the Bucharest Summit in 2008 regarding Ukraine's membership.
This was announced by the head of the "Servant of the People" party, Olena Shulyak.
According to her, the draft resolution No. 9192 was initiated by deputies from the "Servant of the People" faction headed by the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk.
"During the spring session of the NATO PA in Luxembourg and the Vilnius NATO summit in July, we aim to bring Ukraine closer to membership in the Alliance. Therefore, we call on the member states of the Alliance to appeal to their governments to facilitate the adoption of joint documents with Ukraine in support of this goal," Olena said. Shulyak
She added that it is important to convene a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission at the level of leaders with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі within the framework of the Vilnius NATO Summit.
"The Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine have not changed since 2008, and after the full-scale Russian invasion, they only strengthened. After February 24, 2022, the entire civilized world realized that Ukraine in NATO is a guarantee of security not only for Europe, but also for the whole world. Therefore, on the eve of the NATO summit in Vilnius called on the member states of the Alliance to continue an active political dialogue regarding Ukraine's entry into the Euro-Atlantic family," Shuliak summarized.
We will remind you that on March 20, the Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis the draft law on amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Defense of Ukraine" regarding the improvement of defense resource management procedures No. 8187.
The document was developed with the aim of improving defense resource management procedures, taking into account the experience of NATO member states and European Union member states.
