A meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission will be held on Tuesday, April 4. The Alliance's foreign ministers will discuss the start of work on the development of a multi-year support program for Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said during a press conference on the eve of the meeting, UNN correspondent reports.
"NATO foreign ministers will meet at an important moment for our security. Tomorrow we will hold a Ukraine-NATO commission with the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Ukraine Dmytro - ed.) Kuleba to consider the issue of Russia's military aggression and address our support to Kyiv.
We don't know when this war will end, but when it does, we will need to take action so that Ukraine can deter future aggression. History will not repeat itself. We cannot allow Russia to continue to threaten European security," Stoltenberg emphasized.
The Secretary General once again congratulated the "Peace Formula" of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, which supports the principles underlying the UN Charter and provides the basis for a stable peace. He repeated that today there are no signs that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is preparing for peace - "he is preparing for a new war."
Stoltenberg emphasized that in this regard, the Alliance "is united in its determination to support Ukraine as long as necessary." He reminded that allied countries have already provided 65 billion dollars in military aid to Kyiv, and also welcomed the arrival of modern battle tanks and other military equipment.
He also announced that the ministers will discuss ways to strengthen support for Ukraine, in particular "by continuing to strengthen the armed forces of Ukraine and supporting the transition from the Soviet era to NATO equipment and doctrine."
"Our support is long-term. Therefore, I expect that the ministers will agree to start work on the development of a multi-year program for Ukraine," the Secretary General said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba will pay a working visit to Brussels on April 3-4, in particular, to participate in the official meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission at the ministerial level, which is being held for the first time since 2017.
