The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, met with the president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, in Tehran. Lukashenka's press service writes about it.

"It was not for flattery that I said that the current contacts between Belarus and Iran, especially in the last two years, are really your merit. I will be honest, maybe even because of me, because of Belarus, we somewhat weakened the attention to the Iranian state I often, thinking about it, conclude that we needed to live this period - a period, perhaps, not so intense relations, characterized by the fact that we realized how much we need each other, how closely we should cooperate in this the world," Lukashenko said.

Raisi, in turn, said that Belarusian-Iranian relations "have always been on the rise." But the last two years, according to him, they really showed a breakthrough.

"Undoubtedly, your visit to Iran will give a serious impetus to the development of our bilateral relations," Raisi said.

It was previously reported that Lukashenko will pay an official visit to Iran on March 12-13, where he will meet with the country's president Ebrahim Raisi.
