The Kremlin said that the Moldovan authorities should be careful about the presence of Russian troops in Transnistria after the statement of the new Prime Minister Dorin Rechan.
Kremlin representative Dmytro Peskov said this on Monday, he was quoted by the Russian agency "Interfax".
On February 18, two days after his appointment as head of government, Rechan said that Transnistria should be demilitarized by withdrawing Russian troops.
"Russia was and remains a very responsible party in what concerns the Transnistrian affairs, continues to fulfill its appropriate function. We would like to recommend to our Moldovan counterpart to be very careful with something like this," Peskov said.
He also spoke about future relations between Moscow and Chisinau after the change of government.
"Our relations with Moldova are already very strained. At the same time, the Moldovan leadership emphasizes everything anti-Russian, also slips into anti-Russian hysteria... Such a lack of constructivism can hardly help Moldova itself and harms bilateral relations," Peskov said.
In recent weeks, Moldova finally began to think about how to overcome the separatist regime in Transnistria.
