The number of people killed as a result of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria exceeded 37,700

The number of victims of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, according to the latest data, exceeds 37,774 people.

 

 AFAD has updated data on Turkey, reports Ukrinform with reference to TRT Haber.

 

 "31 thousand 974 people died as a result of earthquakes in Kahramanmaras", AFAD informed.

 

 President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that more than 8,000 people were pulled out alive from the rubble. He also thanked all the countries that provided assistance to Turkey after the earthquakes.

 

 At the same time, the Al Jazeera agency reports that the number of dead, according to the UN and the Syrian government, exceeds 5,800 people.

 

 In the disaster area, a group of emergency services consisting of 87 rescuers, 16 units of special equipment, two airplanes of emergency services and 10 specially trained service dogs is working to search for living people in the rubble.

 

 On February 6, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred in the southeast of Turkey.
