Finland announced the largest aid package for Ukraine with heavy weapons

Finland has announced the 12th military aid package for Ukraine, which is several times larger than all the previous ones.

The decision was made by the country's president on January 19 based on the government's proposal. Replacing what Finland transfers to Ukraine will cost more than 400 million euros. The estimated cost of all the aid that Finland has provided to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war, together with this package, is 590 million euros.

"The package of weapons that we are sending now is the largest of all that have ever been. Finland is providing heavy weapons and ammunition," said Defense Minister Mikko Savola.

For security reasons, the detailed contents of the package and the estimated time of arrival of these weapons in Ukraine are not disclosed. The minister noted that it was formed taking into account the requests of Ukraine and what Finland could provide from its existing reserves.

The provision of some of these weapons was made possible thanks to the bilateral cooperation of Finland and Sweden: on January 20, the countries will sign a bilateral declaration, which provides that Sweden will, if necessary, help Finland compensate for what it transferred to Ukraine. The Ministries of Defense have thought about what and in what amounts they can give to Ukraine, so as not to jeopardize their own defense capability.
