One of the top topics of the Ukraine-EU summit in early February will be negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with the Czech publication Deník.
"On February 3, another Ukraine-EU summit will be held, one of the key topics of which will be the preliminary negotiations regarding our country's membership in the European Union," Kuleba said.
The head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that today Ukraine is doing everything to become a member of the EU in a short period of time. "We have all the necessary prerequisites and potential, as well as the political will to implement all the recommendations of the European Commission as soon as possible," he said.
"At a historically important moment, we should not wait, we should act quickly and in advance. The European Commission highly appreciated Ukraine's progress in implementing the seven recommendations, which depend on Ukraine's accession to the Union," Kuleba emphasized.
Ukraine became a candidate for EU membership on June 23, 2022. The European Commission formulated seven conditions that Kyiv must fulfill on the way to EU membership. It is about judicial reforms, fight against corruption, de-oligarchization and policy towards national minorities.
Recently, the vice-president of the European Commission linked the possibility of Ukraine's membership in the EU and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the country.
