Artillery fire of Russia was sharply reduced against the war period, in some places by 75%. CNN writes about this with reference to American and Ukrainian experts.
Experts cite two reasons for such changes - lack of ammunition or revision of tactics.
"U.S. and Ukrainian officials do not yet have a clear or unambiguous explanation. Russia may be rationing artillery shells due to a lack of supplies, or it may be part of a broader reassessment of tactics in the face of successful Ukrainian offensives," the newspaper writes.
At the same time, experts believe that the decrease in artillery fire may indicate a weaker position of Russia on the front 11 months after the invasion.
CNN also notes that this is due to the strengthening of military support for Ukraine from the West.
