Zelenskyi: Reinforcements will be sent to Bakhmut and Soledar

In the Donetsk region, two civilians were killed and two more were injured in the territory controlled by Ukraine. The head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kirylenko, said that they were killed during Russian shelling in the cities of Bakhmut and Soledar.

These cities have been under attack by Russian troops for several months. In recent days, the pressure has intensified. Russian telegram channels covering the war, close to the Ministry of Defense and Wagner's PMC, reported a "defence breakthrough" in Soledar and the advance of Russian troops in the Bakhmut area.

Ukrainian sources state that there is no talk of a breakthrough, but admit that there is heavy fighting on the approaches to both cities. The Deputy Head of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar said the day before that in Soledar "now it is very difficult." The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, noted that the command ensured the transfer of additional units to the front near Bakhmut and Soledar, saying that this is "one of the bloodiest places on the front".

On Monday, the headquarters of the so-called "DPR" announced the capture of the village of Bakhmutske in Donetsk region - it is located next to Soledar. The capture of this village by the mercenaries of PMC Wagner was previously reported by Russian Telegram channels, but the Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the report.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday warned the citizens of Ukraine about the possibility of a massive Russian missile attack on infrastructure facilities. The last such blow occurred on New Year's Eve. As a rule, they are repeated at intervals of about 10 days. Currently, energy supply in most of the territory of Ukraine is carried out according to schedules - the lights in houses are turned off for several hours a day.
