The Ukrainian military continues to destroy the Russian occupiers. On January 2, our soldiers repelled 13 enemy attacks in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The adversary, trying to take full control of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, is concentrating its efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut region. It is making attempts to improve the tactical position in the Lyman and Avdiiv regions, and is strengthening the groups in the Novopavliv region at the expense of units transferred from Kherson region," - noted in General Staff
In the Volyn, Polis, Siver, and Slobozhan directions, the situation remains unchanged, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, and no signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected.
In other directions, the enemy defends previously occupied lines, concentrates efforts on restraining the actions of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, and at the same time fires at the positions of our troops and civilian objects along the entire contact line.
On the Siverskyi and Slobozhansk directions, areas of the settlements of Lypivka, Yelina of the Chernihiv region, Volfine, Pavlivka, Pokrovka, Maiske of the Sumy region, as well as Strelecha, Staritsa, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Okhrimivka, Kamianka of the Kharkiv region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy fired from the entire spectrum of artillery in the areas of the settlements of Novomlynsk, Tavilzhanka, Dvorichna, Liman Pershiy, Vilshana, Kupyansk, Kucherivka, Orlyanka, Kurylivka, Kislivka, Kotlyarivka, Tabaivka, Pershotravneve of the Kharkiv region, Novoselivske, Andriivka and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region.
In the Lymansky direction, the enemy fired tanks, mortars, and barrel artillery in the areas of the settlements of Makiivka, Ploshanka, Nevske, Chervopopivka, Dibrova of the Luhansk region, as well as Terna of the Donetsk region.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy fired from tanks, mortars and rocket artillery in the areas of the settlements of Spirne, Berestovka, Bilogorivka, Vesele, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Kostyantynivka, Stupochki, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Bila Gora, Kurdyumivka, Diliivka, Mayorsk, New- York, Donetsk region.
In the Avdiiv region, the enemy fired tanks and artillery of various types in the areas of Vesele, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Georgiivka, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, and Vodiane settlements of the Donetsk region.
In the direction of Novopavlivsk, the enemy fired from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery in the areas of Vugledar, Zolota Niva, Velyka Novosilka, and Vremivka settlements of the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhya direction, the enemy fired tanks and the entire range of artillery in the areas of the settlements of Novopil of the Donetsk region, Olhivske, Zeleny Hay, Gulyaipole, Dorozhnyanka, Zaliznychne, Gulyaipilske, Charivne, Novodanilivka, Orihiv, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaki, Stepove, Kamianske and Plavni, Zaporizhzhya region, Musiivka, Chervonogrihorivka, Dnipropetrovsk region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy does not stop shelling populated areas along the right bank of the Dnipro River. In particular, the civil infrastructure of Kherson, Zelenivka, Inzhenerne, Molodizhne, Antonivka and Beryslav settlements of Kherson region were damaged by artillery shelling, and there are victims among the civilian population.
Over the past 24 hours, units of the Defense Forces repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of populated areas: Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Ploshanka, Belogorivka, Luhansk region, Rozdolivka, Soledar, Krasna Gora, Pidhorodne, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Kurdyumivka, Avdiivka, Maryinka, Donetsk region.
During the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine made 13 strikes on areas where the enemy's personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated, as well as 5 strikes on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems.
During the past day, our defenders shot down an enemy Ka-52 helicopter and 3 reconnaissance UAVs of the "Orlan-10" type.
Units of missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine over the past day carried out fire damage to the area where the enemy's manpower and military equipment are concentrated, as well as the enemy's radar station.
On January 2, Ukrainian border guards fought two fierce battles with the occupiers near Bakhmut and in the city itself. The enemy suffered losses.
