The US Congress submitted a bill on state financing for 2023 in the amount of 1.7 trillion dollars. Of which, it is planned to allocate 44.9 billion dollars of aid to Ukraine and NATO allies.
This is reported by Reuters.
The total funding proposed in the bill is on top of the roughly $1.5 trillion appropriated the previous year, it said.
"The draft law includes $44.9 billion in additional emergency aid to Ukraine and NATO allies," the media write.
So, the leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives plan to pass the bill and send it to US President Joe Biden for signature by the end of the week.
As the publication notes, Democrats and Republicans argued among themselves about how much money should be allocated to military and non-military programs.
However, as it became known, next year the US will adopt a record defense budget, which will amount to 858 billion dollars and exceeds last year's, which amounted to 740 billion dollars.
We will remind that at the end of November, US President Joe Biden instructed the head of the State Department, Anthony Blinken, to send up to 400 million dollars for military support to Ukraine.
The US has not yet transferred any Lend-Lease military aid to Ukraine, but Washington provides Ukraine with weapons under other programs.
