The Russian occupiers are trying to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian troops in the Bakhmut and Avdiiv directions. The invaders continue to actively attack the positions of the defenders in a number of directions. This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The Russians continue to focus their efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Avdiiv areas. They are trying to restore the lost position in the Lyman area. Efforts to curb the actions of Ukrainian defenders are focused on other areas.
During December 17, the occupiers launched 5 rocket attacks. In particular, the civil infrastructure of the cities of Druzhkivka and Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region came under fire. At the same time, our air defense forces destroyed two Onyx-type missiles launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea in Odesa. In addition, the enemy fired more than 10 rounds of anti-aircraft fire at the positions of Ukrainian troops in various directions and at the civilian infrastructure of Kherson.
At the same time, the threat of enemy air and missile strikes remains on the entire territory of Ukraine.
There are no significant changes in the Volyn and Poliske directions, and no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected.
In the Siversky and Slobozhansk directions, the invaders carried out mortar and artillery attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian troops in the areas of the settlements of Gai, Zernov, Yastrubyne, and Kondrativka of the Sumy region and Strilka, Krasne, Staritsa, Zakharivka, Milove, Figolovka, Novomlynsk, and Zahidne.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Kislivka, Kotlyarivka and Tabaivka districts of the Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka and Nevsky in the Luhansk region were shelled by tanks and the entire spectrum of artillery.
On the Lymanskyi direction, the Russians shelled the positions of Ukrainian troops with tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery in the areas of Makiivka, Maidanchyk, Chervonpopivka, and Dibrova settlements of the Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut and Avdiyiv directions, the occupiers unsuccessfully continue their attempts to break through the defenses of our troops. Areas of more than 20 settlements were shelled. Among them are Andriivka, Berestov, Blagodatne, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Hodinnyk Yar, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Karlivka, Maryinka and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, the invaders tried to attack the positions of our troops near Prechistivka, Vugledar, and Shakhtarsky, Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson directions, the Russians continue to shell our positions and the civil infrastructure of settlements along the right bank of the Dnipro River. 32 settlements came under enemy fire. In particular, Vremivka and Novopillya of the Donetsk region; Biloghirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhya and Kherson, Respublikanets, Novokairy, Charivne and Olhivka in the Kherson region.
On December 17, units of missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces hit five areas of concentration of personnel, a control post and three ammunition depots of the enemy.
