The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, called the decision of Brussels "discriminatory", according to which Ukraine and Moldova became candidates for joining the EU, while Georgia did not. The Hungarian Prime Minister announced this at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili.
According to Orban, the decision of the European Union cannot be justified even morally.
"We all know that a very bad decision was announced in Brussels, I would say discriminatory, when Moldova and Ukraine were granted candidate status, but Georgia was not. It can be justified even morally, it is harmful. Our guest and his country deserved the candidate status because he worked very hard in recent years, and this decision was disrespectful to the Georgian people, the Georgian state," he said.
According to Orbán, Hungary will continue to provide Georgia with support so that the country acquires the status of a candidate and joins the EU.
"We will be able to do this with expert help, 16 Hungarians are working on Georgia's issues in the European Union, and we are doing our best to start negotiations in this direction in the near future," Viktor Orban said.
