Great Britain will maintain the level of military aid to Ukraine in 2023 - Prime Minister

Great Britain in 2023 will provide the same support to Ukraine or even exceed the amount of military aid provided to Ukraine in 2022.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss said this after a meeting with the US president in London, Sky News writes.

During his first trip abroad as prime minister to the UN General Assembly, Truss is expected to point to the success of the Ukrainian counteroffensive as proof of what the Ukrainian people can do with the support of other democratic countries.

"My message to the people of Ukraine: Great Britain will continue to support you every step of the way. Your security is our security," she said.

Tras is expected to use the trip to highlight Britain's long-term commitment to Ukraine, as well as stress the need to end energy dependence on Russia.

When the prime minister was asked what she hoped to get out of the meeting with the US president, she told reporters: "The number one issue is global security: making sure that we can collectively deal with Russian aggression and ensure that Ukraine wins and Putin no".

Britain is already Ukraine's second-largest military donor, with £2.3bn in 2022 and hundreds of missiles, air defense systems and non-lethal military equipment.

Earlier, Truss held the first telephone conversations with the leaders of France and Poland and agreed to continue supporting Ukraine.
