The Prime Minister of Great Britain announced the freezing of gas and electricity bills for two years

In Great Britain, from October, household electricity bills will not exceed 2.5 thousand pounds per year, such a measure will curb inflation and accelerate economic growth, British Prime Minister Liz Truss said on Thursday.

"The government will immediately start introducing guaranteed prices that will give people certainty about their electricity bills, curb inflation and promote economic growth," Truss said, speaking in the British Parliament.

"These guarantees mean that, from 1 October, the average household will pay no more than £2,500 a year on their bills for the next two years while we get the energy market back to normal," she continued.

According to the prime minister, in this way, one household will save 1 thousand pounds per year.

She added that, in addition, Great Britain "will intensify the use of all its own energy resources, including the production of oil and gas in the North Sea." In particular, the government will issue 100 new licenses for the extraction of these resources.

The head of the British government assured that the country "will speed up the introduction of ecological and renewable energy technologies, including hydrogen, solar, wind, as well as carbon capture and storage technologies."
