The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, has been removed from the leadership amid the lack of success in the war against Ukraine, the British Ministry of Defense informs on Twitter, noting that Shoigu has fallen out of favor with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is now removed from the Russian leadership, and operational commanders are directly informing President Putin about the progress of the war," British intelligence reports.
According to British intelligence, Russian officers and soldiers with experience of the war are likely to regularly deride the Shoigu for his ineffective and absent leadership as Russia's progress has stalled.
"Shoigu has long tried to shake off his reputation as a man with no serious military experience, as he spent most of his career in the construction sector and the Ministry of Emergency Situations," the summary said.
Earlier, British intelligence reported that Russia's offensive in the war against Ukraine had stalled due to Russia's poor military effectiveness and fierce Ukrainian resistance, and the words of the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, were almost certainly disinformation.
