USA: lifting sanctions against Russia in exchange for access to Ukrainian ports will not happen

There are "informal" agreements between NATO countries on refraining from deliveries of certain weapons systems to Ukraine. In particular, we are talking about Western tanks and combat aircraft.

This was reported by DPA.

According to the agency's sources, members of the alliance fear that in case of an open confrontation with Moscow due to such supplies, the organization will refuse to fully support its partners.

Poland has refused to supply Ukraine with Soviet-made MiG-29 fighters because of this.

"As was confirmed in Alliance circles in Brussels on Wednesday, the risk of a direct military confrontation between NATO countries and Russia should be minimized. There are fears, for example, that Russia could officially regard the supply of Western combat tanks and combat aircraft as an entry into war and then take military retaliation," the sources said.

The publication said that NATO was closely monitoring developments in Ukraine and did not rule out sending heavy equipment if necessary.
