Despite the war: in Stefanyshyn preparing for the Ukraine-EU Association Council, although the event had to be postponed

The next meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Council was supposed to take place in early April, but it was decided to postpone it amid a full-scale war. At the same time, the Ukrainian side has already begun preparations for the event. This was told to UNN in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Olga Stefanishina.

"So far, the date and agenda of the 8th meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Council is still being discussed. The regular meeting was to be held in early April, but in the conditions of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine it was decided to postpone the meeting," Stefanishina's office said.

"Preparations are still at an early stage, but we already understand that the current Association Council will take place in the context of Ukraine's candidacy for EU membership," the interlocutors said to UNN.

In this context, the Office expressed the hope that the eighth meeting of the Council will be aimed not only at summarizing the work of Ukraine in adapting legislation to the EU law within the framework of the Association Agreement, but also to launch joint work with the EU on membership.

Also in Stefanyshyna reminded that by the end of this week, the government plans to complete work on the second part of the EU questionnaire for accession status.

"It is designed to assess the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law in all spheres, to assess our ability to implement EU law, and thus to fulfill the obligations of EU membership," - reminded the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
