It is not ruled out that Russia may use Transnistria for further occupation actions against Ukraine. This is reported by the assistant to the chairman of the State Border Service of Ukraine - spokesman Andriy Demchenko.
"The border with Moldova on the segment with Transnistria is guarded intensively. The State Border Guard Service conducts activities together with other scad sectors of defense. So far, we have not recorded any provocations directly on the border line in this direction. At the same time, we cannot exclude Transnistria as a territory that Russia is ready and can use for further actions against Ukraine. Both the State Border Guard Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine take this into account. We see that the situation around this region has been escalated for several days," Demchenko said.
Checkpoints, according to the speaker, in this direction the government closed at the end of February. There is no movement of people and vehicles here now.
Asked whether the State Border Service has observed the accumulation of forces on the other side of the border, Demchenko said that "it is not observed in the field of vision."
"But, again, it doesn't have to be at the border line. Intelligence units are already observing it in order to understand what the situation is directly on the territory of Transnistria itself," the spokesman noted.
