Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson intends to apply for the country's NATO membership by the end of June. Namely at the summit in Madrid.
This is reported by the Swedish publication SvD.
Sources were quoted by the newspaper as saying that the party leadership of the Swedish Social Democrats has made a decision on the NATO issue. It lies in the fact that Stockholm will become part of the North Atlantic Alliance already this year.
Andersson is expected to apply for membership at the NATO summit to be held in Madrid June 29-30.
Recall that earlier Sweden and Finland rejected threats from Russia and announced that they would decide the issue of joining NATO themselves.
Russia opposes further expansion of the alliance, as it considers it a threat to its security.
