Law enforcers opened proceedings because of the enemy shelling of Ukraine's only icebreaker Kapitan Belousov in the port of Mariupol, where one civilian was killed. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

"... is carried out pre-trial investigation in 4 criminal proceedings on violations of laws and customs of war (article 438 of the Criminal code of Ukraine)", - said in the message.

It is reported that according to the investigation, on April 8, the armed formations of the aggressor state shelled the Mariupol commercial port, where the only icebreaker in Ukraine "Captain Belousov" with the crew on board. One civilian was killed and several were injured.

In addition, Russian occupation troops and illegal armed formations of the "DPR" are said to continue shelling populated areas of the Donetsk region. On April 7, artillery shelling was carried out from the temporarily occupied city of Horlivka and the town of Toretsk. Buildings of a kindergarten, a comprehensive school, and a hospital were damaged.

According to the prosecutor's office, on April 8, the enemy hit the village of Sukhaya Balka and the town of Toretsk from the same direction. Shrapnel damaged a hangar, a car and a gas pipe, resulting in almost 50 houses being without gas supply for seven hours. The gas supply to consumers has now been resumed. No one was injured as a result of the shelling.

According to the RSA, in the Donetsk region Avdeevka, Kurakhovo, Marinka, Krasnogorovka, Toretsk and Ocheretinska gromala are under fire from the occupants. There are wounded in almost each of these settlements.
