Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded talks, the main topic of which was peace talks in Istanbul and the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine.
"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the meeting they discussed the meeting of the negotiating delegations of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul on Tuesday," the office of the Turkish president reported.
During the meeting, Erdogan reportedly said that the "positive and constructive" meeting of the delegations in Istanbul "gives hope for peace."
"Stating that it is important for the sides to act with common sense and maintain dialogue, President Erdogan said they want to crown their peace efforts with a rapprochement between Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky," the office said.
According to the Turkish side, Putin thanked Erdogan for organizing the meeting of the negotiating delegations in Istanbul.
The Kremlin, according to rossmedia, confirmed the information and said that Putin was assessing the negotiation process during the conversation.
"The Russian president expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for its assistance in holding the next round of talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Istanbul on March 29," the Kremlin reported.
In addition, it is reported that in the conversation, "principled assessments of the ongoing negotiation process" were given.
