EU ambassadors will discuss a potential fifth package of sanctions against Russia, which could include new restrictions on its energy sector.

This was reported by Radio Liberty's correspondent in Brussels, Rikard Jozwiak.

He said some EU member states are "baffled" by the fourth package of sanctions against Russia.

"Tomorrow (Wednesday, March 16) there will be a tentative debate between EU ambassadors on a potential fifth package of sanctions, for which more measures against the energy sector will be discussed," Jozwiak writes.

Recall that on March 15, the EU agreed on the details of the fourth package of sanctions against Russia for its war against Ukraine, the relevant legislation will be published in the Official Journal of the EU.

Earlier, the media reported that the fourth package of sanctions includes new restrictions against the largest Russian oil companies Rosneft, Transneft and Gazprom Neft. However, the EU will continue to buy oil from them for the time being.

In addition, according to media reports, the EU has agreed to add Chelsea soccer club owner Roman Abramovich to the list of Russian billionaires who are subject to sanctions after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
