Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that Germany will definitely not send warplanes to Ukraine. He said this after the United States rejected Poland's proposal to transfer MiG-29 aircraft. This was reported by Reuters.
"We have provided all kinds of defense materials and sent the weapons that we told you about, but it is also true that we have to think very carefully about what we are doing specifically, and certainly warplanes are not part of that," Scholz said.
Asked whether Germany is categorically opposed to a ban on Russian energy imports, Scholz said he has been working for months to reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuel imports.
"There are a lot of technical issues that need to be resolved," he said.
