German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that a Russian invasion of Ukraine "would be very expensive. This was reported by the UNN, citing the Washington Post.
According to the chancellor, Germany is NATO's largest partner in continental Europe and is cooperating with NATO allies and the United States on how Ukraine should respond to the threat that comes from Russia.
"Our strict response is that if the Russians intervene, it will be very costly, and that we are working very hard to find a way out of this situation," he said.
Also, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz noticed a "growing improvement in the conflict around Ukraine. He told this to television channel ARD on Sunday, February 6, on the eve of his first visit to the United States as head of the Government of Germany, writes UNN.
According to him, despite the fact that mutual accusations remain at the center of negotiations between Russia and Western countries, the parties have managed to move forward.
We can see "a growing improvement in the situation," Scholz told ARD, as quoted by German media.
Scholz added that he was "personally a little bit proud" of the progress made.
We shall remind you that Scholz is going to Washington today, February 7, and will visit Kiev and Moscow on February 14-15.
