The Kremlin propaganda channels from the Russia Today group will not work in Germany.
This was announced by the German state media regulator.
It is noted that the Commission for Licensing and Supervision of the Media banned the broadcasting of RT DE (Russia Today Deutschland) in the country on February 1. And both via the Internet and satellites.
Previously, the German-language RT had been broadcasting its programs in Germany under a license issued in a country very friendly to Russia - Serbia.
But German law does not allow this if the company's office is located on its territory (and it is in Berlin).
The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the German regulator's decision to ban RT DE. The Kremlin is threatening to sue the German broadcasters. And also to block German media in Russia.
Germany stopped satellite broadcasting of the German-language channel Russia Today back in late 2021. A few years earlier, YouTube had blocked two German-language Russia Today channels.
Russia Today is a state-run, multilingual television station established in 2005 and fully funded by the Kremlin.
