The German government has made it clear that it is not opposed to strikes by German weapons on the Russian border areas in the Kharkiv region. This was stated by the official representative of the German government Steffen Hebestreit, reports Suddeutsche Zeitung.
“The weapons we supply will be used in accordance with international law. Together we are convinced that under international law Ukraine has the right to defend itself against these attacks,” he said.
It is about the “the liberation of Ukrainian territory” as well as to Russia's ongoing massive attacks on Kharkiv, which are “prepared, coordinated and carried out” from positions in the border area adjacent to Russia.
Hebestreit did not specify what weapons could be used, but the publication suggests that PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery systems and Mars II MLRSs, which can fire at a distance of more than 100 kilometers, could be used.
As a reminder, the day before, the United States lifted its ban on strikes on the Russian border territory.
