German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he would visit Moscow and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin "in the near future," the UNN reported.
"I am working actively with all allies and partners in the European Union on the issue of Ukraine - hardly any topic takes us more time. Of course, I also spoke with the Russian president, and we are preparing carefully everything that will be necessary. I will go to the U.S. (February 7), I will also talk in Moscow in the near future about the issues that need to be discussed," he said in an interview with the ZDF television channel.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the EU and NATO have a coordinated policy and are working to prepare their future decisions well. When asked if he was referring to a meeting with Putin, Scholz said that "it is planned and will take place soon.
"As you know, we always report on time when clear plans appear," Scholz stressed.
In addition, the German chancellor commented on the situation around Ukraine. Scholz noted that the "Normandy" format for resolving the situation in the country has managed to revive in recent weeks.
"The situation is very serious. We must not forget that a large number of soldiers and servicemen have been moved to the border with Ukraine," he said, adding that "an attack on the territorial integrity of Ukraine will have a very high price."
Recall that the day before the British prime minister arrived in Kiev for a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The leaders of the two countries confirmed their desire to develop a strategic partnership between the UK and Ukraine in all areas of mutual interest.
