The commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Mykola Balan has resigned because of the shooting in Dnipro. He said this at a briefing in Dnepr.
"In view of the fact that for any action is the responsibility of the commander or commander, this morning I expressed my desire and wrote a report to the Minister of Internal Affairs and a petition to the President of Ukraine to resign and dismiss the commander of the National Guard," - said Balan.
Balan added that he dismissed the command of the regiment in which the National Guard officers involved in the protection of Yuzhmash served, so that they could not influence the investigation. In turn, the shooter, National Guard officer Artem Ryabchuk, has already been informed about the suspicion and appointed an examination, said at the briefing of the GBR.
Law enforcers will also conduct investigative actions to establish whether the offender was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"An examination of his mental state will be scheduled as soon as possible," the briefing added.
