Biden expects Putin to invade Ukraine

"It would be a disaster for Russia if it further invades Ukraine," Joe Biden said during a White House news conference on Jan. 19

Responding to a Bloomberg's question about threats against Ukraine, Biden said that Ukraine has already been provided with more than $600 million worth of modern weapons.

As Joe Biden pointed out, Russia could launch an invasion in two ways - a minor invasion, in which case the U.S. and its allies would have to "fight over what to do and what not to do"; or a major invasion, which "would be a disaster for Russia."

"The price for an invasion of Ukraine would be physically expressed in lives lost. They may have the upper hand, but those losses will be permanent, and they will be severe," Joe Biden said during the conference.
