The Pechersky district court of Kiev heard the speeches and arguments of the parties in the hearing of the application for a preventive measure for the fifth president of Ukraine, the leader of the party "European Solidarity" Petro Poroshenko on "coal case" in the form of detention with an alternative to bail in the amount of 1 billion UAH and retired to the deliberation room to make a decision.

"I am ashamed that with such fulfillment of criminal orders you hope to sleep peacefully ... You are splitting the country," Poroshenko said, addressing the prosecution.

In his conviction, the authorities should have focused their efforts on fighting Russian aggression, not on fighting the opposition.

"I demand that the petition be returned to the prosecutors," Poroshenko said, addressing the court.

"We ask the court to deny the petition ... And register the criminal proceedings to prosecute a knowingly innocent," said lawyer Igor Golovan.

Also Golovan recalled the court's decision to arrest Poroshenko's property and expressed bewilderment about the amount of bail alternative to the arrest.

Meanwhile, according to Strana.ua, Poroshenko's supporters began to block the side exits of the Pechersky Court in case the court decides to take him into custody.

By the way, in the evening there are far fewer people near the court than there were during the day.
