Leaders of Ukraine and Azerbaijan discussed creation of transport corridor and signed declarations

Ukraine and Azerbaijan are discussing the possibility of creating a transport corridor that would also unite Georgia and Moldova. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky after a meeting in Kiev with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, the UNN correspondent reports.

"The actual topic is the development of transit potential and the creation of appropriate modern infrastructure. We must intensify cooperation in the field of international, road and rail transport, as well as in the field of aviation. We will continue to work on a number of prospects. Among others there is the creation of a transport corridor, possibly within GUAM, which will unite Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova," Vladimir Zelensky said.

The President stressed that during today's meeting the delegations of the two countries signed declarations in different spheres.

Thus, the Declaration signed between the presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan enshrines the readiness to support sovereignty, territorial integrity and counter hybrid threats, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"We signed a joint Declaration between the presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan. We enshrine the readiness to provide support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity of our states and peoples within internationally recognized borders, jointly counter hybrid threats, the desire to ensure peace and stability in the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions and beyond," Zelensky said during a joint briefing with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan in Kiev.

According to Zelensky, the positions of the declaration testify to the closeness and unity of the views of Ukraine and Azerbaijan about the challenges and global dimensions.

In the first half of the year the presidents also agreed to hold a meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation, said Volodymyr Zelensky.

It is worth mentioning that during his working visit to Brussels in mid-December 2021, Zelensky met with Azerbaijani President Aliyev to discuss the activation of bilateral cooperation between the countries.

Zelenskyy said that Aliyev's visit to Ukraine takes place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan.
