Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions by the NSDC against two Ukrainian TV channels First Independent and UkrLive. The UNN writes about it with reference to the decrees published on the website of the head of state.
"In accordance with Article 5 of the Law of Ukraine "On sanctions" the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has decided: to support the proposals made by the Security Service of Ukraine on the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions). Apply personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to legal entities according to the appendix," the statement reads.
According to the decree, sanctions are imposed on:
- Media holding "News";
- "Time Media";
- "Telespace."
These companies own such TV channels as ZIK, NewsOne, 112 Ukraine, First Independent and UkrLive. These TV channels are associated with Nestor Shufrych and Taras Kozak, associates of the suspected high treason MP Viktor Medvedchuk.
The sanctions include, in particular, a ban on the use of radio frequencies, blocking of assets and conducting any activities in Ukraine. The sanctions were introduced for five years.
We shall remind you that on 8 October MP Viktor Medvedchuk was reportedly suspected of treason and facilitation of a terrorist organization. According to Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova, the case involves, in particular, the purchase of coal from the TOT from the terrorist organizations "DNR" and "LNR".
Venediktova reported that the prosecutor's office will apply for an arrest or bail of 1 billion for Medvedchuk.
On October 12, however, the Kiev Pechersky District Court sent Medvedchuk under 24-hour house arrest.
In May, MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak were informed of suspicion of treason and attempted plunder of national resources in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
