President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held an online meeting with members of leading organizations of foreign Ukrainians. The event was attended by representatives of Ukrainian organizations from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Estonia, Italy, Spain, Canada, Germany, Lithuania, the Republic of South Africa, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the USA, Turkey and the Czech Republic, the official web portal of the President of Ukraine reports.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to foreign Ukrainians for their important role in the formation of broad international support for Ukraine, first of all in the issues of countering Russian aggression.
The president also thanked them for supporting the implementation of Ukraine's strategic course towards EU membership. He asked foreign Ukrainians to actively join in supporting the process of recognizing the European perspective of Ukraine by all EU member states.
Speaking about the priorities of the Euro-Atlantic course of our state, Volodymyr Zelenskiy emphasized the importance of the upcoming NATO summit 2022 in Madrid. He stressed the need to work not only on ensuring Ukraine's invitation to take part in the event, but also on making the Alliance's decisions about the further algorithm of deepening relations with our state.
The President stressed the importance of increased attention of foreign Ukrainians to the "Crimea Platform" initiative. He asked for their more active involvement in the activities of the Crimean Platform and the expansion of the circle of its member states.
The head of state praised the outstanding efforts of foreign Ukrainians to have the international community recognize the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people. The President noted the importance of participation of foreign leaders in the commemorative events that will take place in 2022 and will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of those tragic events.
During the online meeting, the participants exchanged opinions on the process of legislative registration of the institute of multiple citizenship in Ukraine which is the subject of special attention and interest for foreign Ukrainians.
