Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Brussels. He asked him about the possibility of Azerbaijan joining the process of releasing the illegally detained persons.
This is reported by the Official Internet Office of the President of Ukraine.
"The issue of the release of Ukrainian citizens, especially Crimean Tatars, who are illegally detained in Russia, is one of my key priorities. I will be grateful for your possible help in advancing this issue," Zelensky said.
He reminded that in February 2022 the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan and Turkey will be celebrated. That's why he suggested holding a summit with the leaders of the three states in Kiev in February.
The President of Ukraine drew attention to the transport and logistics potential of the cooperation between the countries, in particular the necessity to stimulate work on the implementation of cargo transit along the route Europe-Caucasus-Asia by using railway and sea transport.
Earlier, Zelensky met Turkish President Erdogan in the USA and talked about the release of Crimean political prisoners.
