US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba in Stockholm and then with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

As European Pravda writes, this was reported by Bloomberg News Agency, citing a State Department spokesman.

The talks will take place Thursday on the margins of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) ministerial meeting.

Blinken will meet separately with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and then hold a meeting with Lavrov. This will be the first direct contact between U.S. and Russian officials in weeks.

Lavrov will also meet with European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell in Stockholm, a Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.

The talks will take place amid concerns that Russia may be planning an invasion of Ukraine.

As a reminder, NATO foreign ministers discussed possible economic sanctions and political measures against Russia for aggression against Ukraine at a meeting in Riga on November 30.

On 1 December, the NATO ministerial meeting was attended by Dmytro Kuleba, who proposed a number of concrete steps to NATO states to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the North Atlantic Alliance was planning its actions in case Russia's military aggression against Ukraine intensifies.
