The European Union calls on the Russian Federation to cancel the decree that allows goods from occupied Donbas to enter Russian territory. Such actions are contrary to the Minsk agreements.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the speaker of the foreign policy service of the European Union Peter Stano.
"The decree is aimed at further separation of the temporarily non-government-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk from Ukraine, which contradicts the goals of the Minsk agreements. Such unilateral measures violate Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, including with regard to customs control," Stano said.
According to him, such actions could increase tensions and prolong the status quo, hindering the future reintegration process.
"We call on Russia to reverse this decision and stop taking unilateral measures that only provoke further aggravation of the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The European Union will continue to pursue a policy of non-recognition in this regard," he added.
As a reminder, last week Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree equating goods from certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts to Russian goods and allowing them to be included in Russian state purchases.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that this decree contradicted the Minsk agreements.
