Russian troops near the Ukrainian border are an attempt by the Russian Federation to raise the stakes for future negotiations, UNIAN reports.
The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov said this at the international security forum in Halifax, the press service of the SNBO writes.
"By pulling troops to the Ukrainian border, Russia is trying to aggravate the situation in the region as much as possible to raise the stakes at the table of future negotiations," Danilov said.
Danilov noted that Russia's latest actions, in particular the publication of diplomatic documents by the Russian foreign minister and the testing of the latest missile defense systems on its own satellites, "show that there are no rules for them anymore."
Danilov assured that Ukraine would be able to give an adequate response to the aggressor.
