Ukraine's vision of Russia's threats is quite consistent with that of its international partners. Therefore, Ukraine and the West are working on a plan to deter Russian aggression.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
"Russia actively demonstrates that it considers all possible scenarios, including military ones. Therefore, we are not talking about "fears," but about a quite realistic assessment of the threats. That is why in Washington and Brussels I did not talk to my partners about whether there is a threat or not. We talked about specific actions and a specific package to deter Russia from military adventures and further aggressive actions," said the head of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Now Ukrainian diplomats, according to the minister, are working around the clock to strengthen Ukraine's security, and most importantly, to deter Russia.
"We are working to consolidate such a level of international support for Ukraine so that Moscow would have no desire in principle to even start any military adventures. Based on the results of the talks in Washington and Brussels, I am convinced that we are succeeding in this. Our partners are ready to support us not only in words but also in deeds," the foreign minister explained.
According to Kuleba, Ukraine together with international partners is working on a comprehensive three-level plan to contain Russia's aggressive actions. The first level is diplomatic and consists of partners making strong, timely public and non-public statements in support of Ukraine.
"The second level is economic. It is about new and painful economic restrictions that can be imposed in case of new aggressive actions by Russia. It has to have in it strikes in the most painful places, including the project "Nord Stream-2," - stressed the minister.
And the third level, as Dmitry Kuleba said, is military-defensive.
"This three-tiered deterrence package is filled by different partners depending on their willingness and determination. Some are willing to provide weapons, some are willing to develop economic measures, and some are willing to make strong statements. We value all of these elements, and the support of each partner is important to us," the diplomat stressed.
