Journalists began to publicly claim that such a decision was due to the businessman's desire to influence the editorial policy. In response to such accusations, Kiwan explained his position.
"The editorial staff thinks that this is how we get rid of inconvenient and honest journalists. After working with these people for several months I understood that this was not about journalistic standards, but about elementary theft. I wanted to take this publication to the next level, but with the level of venality at which my team and I were caught, it became clear - we are not the way. When I make such a financial investment, I expect results and a quality product," Adnan Kiwan stated.
Recall that the weekly Kyiv Post was founded in 1995 in Kiev. In 2018 the newspaper was purchased by Odessa real estate developer Adnan Kiwan. At the moment, the media estimate Kivan's construction empire Kadorr Group at one billion dollars.
