Detained in the Georgian detention center citizen of Ukraine, the former president of Georgia, the chairman of the executive committee of the National Council of Reforms of Ukraine Mikhail Saakashvili today made tests to determine the objective state of his health as a result of a long hunger strike. This was informed in her Telegram channel, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.

The ombudsman wrote that she met with Saakashvili's mother, his Ukrainian lawyer Yevgeny Hrushovets and Ukrainian MP Yelizaveta Yasko.

"Mrs. Giuli Alasania is concerned about the state of health of her son, who is currently on hunger strike for the 34th consecutive day and has lost 20 kilograms of weight. The mother is afraid that the long hunger strike can lead to irreversible consequences for the life and health of Mikhail. Blood pressure jumps and pulse changes didn't allow us to do any tests to determine the objective state of Mikhail's health. Finally today all possible tests were done and we are awaiting the results," said Denisova.

She called on Georgian authorities to immediately respond to Saakashvili's deteriorating health and allow him to receive professional medical care at a medical facility.
